November 9 was an exceptionally busy day for Creekview Elementary School Principal John Thomas. He had accepted the Principal “Book It” Challenge, a challenge that celebrates National Young Readers Week.
This event was co-founded by Pizza Hut and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. Beginning in 1989, National Young Readers Week takes place each year during the second week in November. The challenge and the observation of National Young Readers Week aims to raise awareness in the importance of reading.
Throughout the course of the entire day, Principal Thomas could be found reading aloud for the students enjoyment. Taking this challenge also enters him for a chance to win Kate DiCamillo books for the entire elementary school.
