For first-grade students at Creekview Elementary, March 2 marked a day full of fun, laughter and butter. In harmony with the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, or Dr. Seuss as he is more commonly known, first grade students celebrated the author’s legacy not with green eggs and ham nor having a cat in a top hat come to class, but by getting to know the author through one of his lesser known novels: “The Butter Battle Book.”

The day was complete with the students being introduced to the novel and an activity for them in which to participate: to make their own butter. By placing a small amount of heavy whipping cream in a glass jar and shaking vigorously, students were able to transform the cream into butter. which was then shared on homemade bread.
