Castle Dale’s Recreation Center acted as a battleground for the Cupcake Combat at the 2016 Emery County Fair. On Friday, all those that had signed up to participate presented their cupcakes to a panel of judges.

This year, each group in the contest had a color challenge. The seasoned bakers, those who are 40-years-old and older, were challenged to work with the color red. First place in that category went to Roxanne Jensen. The top chefs were competitors aged 18 to 39 years old. They were challenged to incorporate the color purple in their cupcakes. For this category, first place went to Geri Creviscon and Michelle Clyde.

Ages 12 to 17 years old were deemed the cupcake creators and were tasked with the color orange. Angie Nielson and Dani Thatcher came out on top in that category, winning first place. The last category, ages 11 and under, were the future frosters. These kids were given the color green and first place was awarded to Parker Holt.
