CVJH Reveals Student Statistics

Canyon View Junior High School Principal Jim Jones shared student demographics at the Emery County School Board meeting Wednesday.

Jones said the school currently 216 students, 17 of which use English as a second language. Jones said he hopes to hire a Spanish teacher for the 2012-2013 school year.

Jones also said, as of the end of the first term, 43-percent of the students boasted grade point averages of 3.5 or higher. Fifty-seven percent earned a 3.2 or higher.

Jones said 12-percent of the students had failing grades at the end of the first term, which was up five percent from the previous year.

Notes:

The Cleveland Elementary fencing project should begin soon and should be finished by mid December, weather permitting. Workers will construct a temporary wall around the playground to keep children out of any dangerous areas.
