Cowboys and cowgirls gathered in Castle Dale on Thursday evening to take part in the 18th annual Desertview Federal Credit Union Pro Rodeo. Fair goers and rodeo enthusiasts filled the stands as competitors took part in various events.

The opening night of the rodeo was sponsor appreciation night and included special events such as wild cow milking and a NFR ticket giveaway. Clown Dusty Barrett provided entertainment throughout the evening for those in attendance. Born on March 12, 1970 in Sauquoit, New York, Barrett is the oldest grandson of the long time rodeo clown and entertainer Dick “Old Man” Barrett.

The Desertview Pro Rodeo will continue on Friday, Price Auto Group Night, and Saturday, Cancer Awareness Night, as part of the Emery County Fair. Friday’s rodeo will begin at 7:30 p.m. while Saturday’s events kick off at 5 p.m. Both evenings will feature a dance and live band following the rodeo.
