The Emery Spartan wrestling squad qualified 16 wrestlers for the state wrestling tournament in the 2A division. Eight of those wrestlers made it to the semifinals round and four of them placed in the competition.
Ashton Dieli, a junior, wrestled at 160 pounds and won second place. McKoy Christiansen, a senior, placed third in the 126 pounds class. Ty Mecham, a junior, wrestled at 220 pounds and placed 6th as did McKay Meccariello, a freshman, wrestling at 126 pounds.
Justin Jennings, a senior, was chosen on the academic all state wrestling team. Justin has 4.0 grade point average. As a team, Emery placed ninth overall.
The Carbon High School Dinos competed at the state tournament as well, with wrestlers Brad Judd, Casey Shiner and Dallyn Mower taking fifth, sixth and third place awards, respectively.
The Carbon High School wrestling team took 13th overall in the 3A Division.
