Glitter, gowns, tutus, twirls and swirls. Thursday night’s Dino Dynamic Spring show had everything and more for anyone wanting a taste of the local dance talent in the Carbon area.

Dino Dynamic Coach Nicole Bennett was excited by the showcase event that featured 10 different routines by the Dynamics, and a performance by the Carbon High Cheerleaders. Groups from four local dance studios also were able to perform before a packed house in the Carbon High Gym. The event was a fundraiser for the Carbon High Dino Dynamics drill team. Bennett stated that drill team is a sanctioned sport under the UHSSA. It is also a very expensive one for the girls to participate in. Costumes and dance outfits, travel and competition fees add up for each girl and the family. The fundraiser helps alleviate some of the load. It also paid for a banquet following the Thursday night performance to honor each girl and thank their families. This year the team qualified for state competition. They did not place, but Bennett feels like they are heading in the right direction. She said that she was thrilled by the talent she saw from each of the dance studios that participated in the event. “The local dance studios provide a great building process for our team in the future” Bennett added. The following studios were part of the event: Linda Johnstun’s Dance Studio and the Non-stop Dance Company; Encore Dance Studio and Dance Company; Dance Technica Studio; and the Castle Country Stars.
