Dinos Again Run to First Place Finish

After a quick turnaround from the Darrell Gardner Invitational on Tuesday, the Carbon Dino track team traveled to Millard High School for the Old Capitol Invitational on Saturday in Fillmore.

The team took an overall first place finish with 182.5 points; over 30 points ahead of second place Millard. The girl’s team finished in first place (101.5 points) and the boys’ team took second (81 points).

Sara Morley took home two firsts, notching wins in the shot put and discus. Gabe Van Dyke ran home with top marks in the 110 and 300-meter hurdles. Lindsey Blanc also placed first in the 400 meters. Sarah Ohlwiler was another top finisher from Carbon with a first in the long jump. The boys’ 4×100 team consisting of Cache Barrett, Derek Hillam, Kyle Quinton and Van Dyke finished over three seconds ahead of second place.

Other top five finishes from Carbon:

Quinton, second in 100 meters, fifth in 200 meters, fifth in long jump. Ohlwiler, second in 100 meters, second in 100-meter hurdles, third in high jump. Hillam, fourth in 200 meters, fourth in long jump. Blanc, second in 200 meters, fourth in javelin. Mikelle Monson, second in high jump, fifth in long jump. Van Dyke, fifth in high jump. Peyton Fausett, fourth in shot put. Morgan Hillam, fourth in shot put. Girls’ 4×100, fifth place.

The Dinos will next compete in Blanding on Saturday as part of the Blue Mountain Invitational, along with Pinnacle. Emery High will travel to Gunnison for the Gunnison Invitational on the same day.
