Desperately needing a Region 12 win, the Carbon Dinos fell to 0-3 with a loss to a pesky Juab team Wednesday night, 68-61. The loss was the fourth straight for the Dinos and their fifth in six games.
Cole Fossat paced Carbon in the first quarter with back-to-back three pointers with a little over three minutes remaining, but a 10-4 run to end the period gave Juab a 20-13 lead.
A slow second quarter by the Dinos spurred the Wasps to a 37-23 halftime lead. Juab finished the half on a 10-3 run. Carbon got within seven points at one point in the period, 27-20.
The Dinos would get within single digits multiple times during the third and fourth quarters, but the Wasps would lead by as many as 16 in the second half. Carbon cut the Juab lead to six, 53-47, on a jumper by Fossat with 5:50 remaining in the game, but Juab did just enough to escape with the victory.
Brad Williams led three Dinos in double figures with 12 points. Peyton Fausett and Garrett Blanc each chipped in 10. Fossat finished with eight points and Mitch Olson added seven.
Carbon (7-10, 0-3 Region 12) will have a week off before traveling to Payson (8-8, 1-0 Region 12) for a matchup with the Lions on Wednesday.
