Garrett Marsing may have stole the show for the Carbon Dinos with his first place finish Wed at the state cross country meet in Sugarhouse park. But Carbon had many other runners who also did well at the state meet. The Dino’s boy’s team finished in 15th place. The girl’s were not able to field a team due to unexpected circumstances, so they ran as individuals.

Senior Giovanna Chiara was the first over the finish line for the Lady Dinos at 23:03.  While that was not at the top of the pack, she stood out for another reason. Chiara was the top 3A academic All-state. That means she not only has a GPA of 4.0, but her ACT scores were the best over all other athletes.

Coach Telisse Alllen said that at the state level the athletes all have 4.0 standings that make the grade for Academic All-state. So the top award is based on the ACT score as well. That is quite an honor for Chiara to receive.

Also finishing for the Lady Dinos was  Zaharah Rossi with a 23:03, Sara Ohwiller at 23:58 and Abbi Powell at 24:54.

For the boys Drew Jones came across second for the Dinos with an 18:57, Trey Richardson at 19:11, J.W. Broadbear at 19:47, Andrew Gagnon with a 19:54, Dallin Quinton at 20:18 and Kyle Quinton at 20:27.

Coach Telisse Allen was extremely proud of all the effort her team gave on the course and through the season. She is really looking forward to another great year and sees quite a bit of promise and talent in the athletes she has coming back next year.
