Carbon ran into Manti in the opening game of Friday’s consolation bracket of the 3A state baseball tournament.
The Dinos took advantage of two Manti errors in the first inning to get on the board 1-0. The Templars struck back in the bottom half, hitting two, two-out RBI singles to take a 2-1 lead.
Manti pushed across four runs in the fifth, three of which came with two outs. With the score 6-1 in the top of the sixth, Collin Lewis smashed a single on a line to the center fielder that scored Braxton Bennett. The Templars answered with four more runs in the bottom of the sixth and eliminated Carbon, 10-2.
The Dinos only managed three hits in the contest, all singles by Ty Anderson, Bennett and Lewis. Bennett pitched four innings and gave up three runs on four hits.
