Senior Dallyn Mower scored twice on the ground Thursday night in the Carbon Dinos’ matchup with visiting Layton Christian Academy, a game the Dinos ran away with 39-0. Carbon scored all 39 points in the second and third quarters.

Logan and Nathan Olsen each scored a rushing touchdown and tight end Peyton Fausett corralled a 41-yard heave from quarterback Taylor Rasmussen as time expired in the second quarter to notch the first TD catch and pass on the season for both players.

Mower kicked off the scoring in the second quarter on a touchdown run from the one-yard line at the 6:28 mark. Nathan Olsen scored another Dino touchdown just four minutes later on a two-yard run to make it 16-0. Rasmussen and Fausett then gave Carbon a 24-0 lead on their hookup at the halftime whistle.

Mower and Logan Olsen extended the Dino lead in the third with runs of 19 and four, respectively, to paydirt. Carbon’s defense was on point all night, allowing just -7 total yards rushing in the first half.

Carbon (1-2, 0-0 3A North) will travel to North Sanpete (1-1, 0-0 3A South) next Friday. The Hawks beat the Dinos on homecoming last season 27-7 in Price. North Sanpete will host Maple Mountain Friday night before gearing up for the Dinos.
