The Carbon Dinos didn’t have enough Friday evening as the Payson Lions came to town and left with an important 34-8 Region 12 win on Senior night.
The Dinos jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead on an improvised 37-yard touchdown run by outgoing senior Jordan Blanc. Blanc took the pitch from quarterback Dakota Cisneros on what looked to be a halfback pass, but with no other Dino open downfield, Blanc tucked the ball away and scampered to paydirt.
That was it, though, as Payson scored 34 unanswered points to walk away with the big Region 12 victory. The Lions (4-5, 3-1 Region 12) sit in a two-way tie with Delta in second place behind one-loss Spanish Fork. Delta beat Juab to keep pace with Payson in the region standings.
Carbon (1-8, 0-4 Region 12) will finish its 2012 campaign with a road contest at Juab Wednesday.
