Carbon boys’ basketball played Tooele in the home opener of the season on Tuesday evening and came crawling out of the gate. The Dinos trailed the White Buffalos 18-4 after the first quarter.
This was truly a game of runs as Carbon began the second quarter on a 10-0 run but then the Buffalos closed the quarter with a 12-3 run of their own.
The Dinos had a sequence, including three threes and a steal, which lead to a breakaway layup in the third quarter. Hoever, the Buffalos answered with three threes of their own, including a contested, 22-foot dagger at the buzzer.
Carbon pulled within five with just under a minute to go, but it was too late for the Dinos as they fell 66-55.
“My guys played hard. Without the slow start, I think it turns out different,” head coach Kyle Wilson said after the game.
Carbon will get a chance at redemption when they go on the road against Central High the Thursday after Thanksgiving.
