Junior running back Nate Olson took the second half kickoff 90 yards to paydirt Friday night for the Carbon Dinos’ lone touchdown in their matchup with the Juan Diego Soaring Eagle. Carbon lost the game 63-6 on senior night, and with the loss, its chance of playing in the postseason.
After falling behind 46-0 at halftime, Olson took the second half kickoff to the house for his sixth total TD of the season. Having rushed for 100 yards or more in five out of the last six games, Olson was held to just 38 yards on 17 carries against the Soaring Eagle. He finished with 223 kick return yards for 261 yards from scrimmage.
Carbon will finish the regular season with two road games in consecutive weeks, beginning Friday at Union. The team will then travel to Richfield on Oct. 19. Carbon needed a win against Juan Diego and at Union on Friday, along with a little help from region members, to earn a playoff spot. The Dinos have not made a playoff appearance since 2000.
