The Carbon Dinos hosted 3AA Ben Lomond Friday night, and despite controlling most of the game with their deliberate Wing T offense, the Dinos fell 31-6.

At the end of a slow first half, the Dinos were unable to punch it in with nine seconds left as the Scots stuffed Dallyn Mower on the one yard line to send the game into halftime at 6-0 in favor of Ben Lomond.

The Scots scored quickly to open up the second half on a 20-yard scamper by Angelo Rios. Ben Lomond returned the second half kickoff to the Carbon 20-yard line to set up the TD run by Rios.

Carbon responded on its next possession, grinding out a drive that spanned over eight minutes of the quarter, capped off by a Brad Chatterton three-yard touchdown run on fourth and goal from the three. The Dinos were unsuccessful on their two-point attempt.

The Dinos picked off a Ben Lomond pass on the Scots’ next possession, but the play was called back because of a defensive holding penalty on Carbon. Ben Lomond would go on to score on its next offensive snap via a long TD pass from Kenyon Harris to Mickey Dunkley to make it 19-6 at the end of three quarters of play.

Ben Lomond scored two more touchdowns in the fourth to run away with the win.

Carbon (0-2, 0-0 3A North) will host 1A Layton Christian (0-2, 0-0 1A North) on Thursday at 7 p.m. Layton Christian has failed to score a single point in two games this season while allowing 92 total points. The game can be viewed live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m.
