The Carbon Dinos, winners of four straight games going into Tuesday’s doubleheader with the Canyon View Falcons to begin Region 12 action, were sent home with two losses by a combined score of 31-13.
In game one, Carbon gave up eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to lose 13-6. The Dinos scored two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings and single runs in the third and fourth to keep the game close. They had eight total hits in the game.
Cody Lowe, second on the team in batting average and total hits on the season, kept his hot streak going, bashing a home run while adding a double and three RBIs. Jayden Flemmett and Trey Richardson both had two hits in the game. Mitch Olson started on the mound for Carbon and was credited with the loss after giving up seven earned runs over 4.1 innings.
The Falcons jumped all over Cole Fossat in the second game of the doubleheader, tagging the hurler for 11 runs, seven earned, in two innings. Fossat tried to make up for it at the plate, going 3-3 with a home run, two doubles and two RBIs in the Dinos’ 18-7 loss. Austin Henry had the other extra-base hit for Carbon with a double. Wyatt Wilson and Anthony Maclean both had two hits apiece.
Canyon View score in every inning in the four-inning affair, notching nine runs in the second to end the game via the mercy rule.
Carbon (4-7, 0-2 Region 12) will host the Falcons (8-4, 2-0 Region 12) on Friday in Helper.
