Dinos Lose First of Two Against Union

The Union Cougars scored five runs in the first inning and held on for the victory over the Carbon Dinos Wednesday in Helper, 9-4.

Carbon committed four errors in the game, leading to just two earned Union runs. Collin Lewis had a two-run double in the game, leading six others with a base hit during the non-region contest. Jayden Flemett had the other extra-base hit with a double.

The Dinos used two pitchers in the game with Jaxon Leonard going three innings, giving up two earned runs on two hits. Gavin Robinett gave up six runs, none earned, in his four innings of work. He was credited with the loss.

The Dinos got to within four runs, 7-3, before Union scored two runs in the top of the seventh.

Carbon (4-6, 0-0 Region 12) will travel to Roosevelt on Friday to again take on the Cougars.
