Despite the constant wind that plagued the state on Tuesday, the Carbon Dinos welcomed the Payson Lions for a Region 12 tilt in Helper. Payson scored nine runs over the third, fourth and fifth innings to secure the 11-7 win.
After falling behind 6-0 entering the bottom half of the fourth inning, Carbon responded with six runs to tie the score. But Payson tacked on another three in the fifth and one run in each of the sixth and seventh innings to take the win.
Carbon had no extra-base hits in the game. Mitch Olsen was credited with the loss on the mound.
Carbon (6-9, 2-1 Region 12) will play at Payson (11-6, 3-0 Region 12) on Thursday. The Dinos sit in third place in the Region 12 standing behind Payson and Juab.
