Playing four games in three days, the Carbon Dinos notched two wins in Ogden at the Pepsi Classic over the weekend, knocking off South Summit and American Preparatory Academy.

The Dinos kicked off the tourney Thursday against South Summit. Cole Fossat and Brad Williams paced the team with 11 apiece in the double-overtime victory, 60-53. In all, nine Dinos scored in the game. After a measley fourt points in the opening quarter, Carbon exploded for 17 in the second to take a 21-17 lead into halftime. South Summit made a comeback in the fourth to tie the game to force the first overtime. After an even first overtime, Carbon outscored South Summit 10-3 in the final overtime frame.

The Dinos then faced off against North Summit on Friday and dropped the low-scoring affair 40-32. Williams was the lone Dino in double figures with 10. No other player scored more than six. Carbon was unable to counter a halftime deficit of seven.

Looking to rebound in game one on Saturday, Carbon couldn’t overcome an 18-point first quarter by Ogden and fell 66-52. The Dinos played pretty much even the rest of the game despite a poor first quarter. Fossat exploded in the game, notching a game and season high 25 points, including three threes.

In its final game of the weekend, Carbon ended on a good note, upending American Preparatory Academy 78-39 to earn its second win of the weekend and season. The Dinos had huge first and fourth quarters, in which they outscored their opponents by a whopping 50-17. Fossat again paced the Dinos with 15, including another three three-pointers in the game. Eleven Carbon players scored at least two points in the game.
