Carbon High hosted its senior night against the Judge Memorial Bulldogs on Friday.

The Dinos came out firing in the first half with four rushing touchdowns, two in each quarter, while only allowing one touchdown to the visiting Bulldogs. With the score 29-6 at halftime, it appeared that Carbon would cruise into its second win of the year and send its seniors off with victory.

But the Bulldogs would not let up. This winless bunch had something to prove and with five minutes left in the third quarter, Thomas Young hooked up with Noah Taylor for a 47-yard touchdown pass.

The Dinos’ ensuing drive was halted with a 71-yard interception that was returned for a touchdown, ending the third quarter with a close score of 29-24.

The Dinos were able to limit their mistakes in the fourth and immediately drove down the field and scored a touchdown on a 24-yard Collin Lewis run. With a little under two minutes left in the game, Judge Memorial completed a 12-yd pass to decrease their deficit to 35-28.

Leading by only one score, it was the Dinos time to shine. They took care of business and put the game out of reach with Collin Lewis’ third touchdown run of the night. The Dinos and their senior were able to celebrate a 42-28 victory to end the regular season.

Carbon will hope to continue their momentum when they host Richfield at 4 p.m. on Thursday in the opening round of the playoffs.
