Carbon had a quick turnaround from last week’s matches falling to Park City and Uintah. The Lady Dinos quickly swept the Manti Templers in a non-region matchup on Tuesday. Carbon used a steady offensive attack, consistent defense and capitalized on a number of Templer errors to pick up the win on the road 25-22, 25-17, 25-9.
It was a well-balanced team effort on Tuesday with nine different players getting in on the action and six players tallying two or more kills. Jordan Scoggins continued her stellar junior campaign with a match-best of 11 kills. Celeste Smith was second on the team contributing six kills and two blocks. Scoggins and Smith were assisted by setters Lauren Rice and Mallorie Bradley who totaled 27 and one assist respectively.
Beth Child led the Carbon defense with 13 digs followed by teammate Katee Martinez with 11. Senior Taylor Oliver contributed five kills, three service aces and two assists to the Dino victory.
The Dinos will travel to Payson on Thursday for their first region match of the year. Carbon will return to their home court on Sept. 30 with a region matchup against Juab.
