Dinos Run Away With Victory at Blue Mountain Invite in Blanding

The Carbon Dinos continue to dominate the competition on the track, most recently taking the title at the Blue Mountain Invitational on Saturday in Blanding.

The Carbon girls took first in their category with 185 points, while the boys took second, finishing just 7.5 points behind first place Grand. Carbon scored a total of 337 points, with Grand finishing in second with 268.5. Pinnacle placed eighth and Green River finished in 13th.

The Dinos had a number of first place finishes, led by Shannon Baker’s first place showing in the 100 meters and long jump. Regan Hansen took home top honors in the 3200 meters. Freshman Emma Christensen jumped to a top showing in the high jump. Carson Frame was tops in the boys’ high jump as well. The girls’ 4×100 team of Emma Christensen, Harley Migliori, Annamaria Cartwright and Paiten Thomas took first. Also placing first was the girls’ 4×400 (Paiten Thomas, Emma Christensen, Annamaria Cartwright and Grace Broadbear), boys’ sprint medley (Jared Spendlove, Tyler Vasquez, Brandon August and Ammon Wilson) and girls’ sprint medley (Riley Marshall, Crystal Neff, Diana Morley and Isabeau Miller).

Carbon also turned in a whopping 13 second place finishes and four more in third.

For Pinnacle, Remington Motte took a third place finish in the boys’ long jump, earning Pinnacle six points. Hannah Stock placed fifth in the 300-meter hurdles. The Panthers also took home a third in the boys’ sprint medley. The girls took fourth in the same event.

Green River’s Miranda Johnson took fourth in the javelin, the top finisher at the meet for the Pirates.

Carbon will have the weekend off for Easter break before taking part in the Uintah Invitational on April 7.
