The Carbon Dino track team took home an overall first place finish Saturday at the Matt Burr Invitational in Salina. The girls finished in second place and the boys in fourth to secure the win over a combined 22 teams.
Sara Morley, participating in her first meet of the season, finished the meet with two first place finishes in the discus and shot put, respectively. She tossed the discus over 100 feet, four feet further than the nearest competitor. She also took home top honors in the shot put, earning the victory with a throw of 34’3”.
Jordyn Oman (100 meters, 13.22) and the girls’ 4×400 team consisting of Lindsey Blanc, Sadie Crompton, Raquel Cano and Emily Broadbear both secured the other first place finishes on the day. In the girls’ 400 meters, Blanc, Crompton, Oman and Cano went second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
Carbon left the meet with a final point total of 198.5. Grand came in second with 159 and host school North Sevier wrapped up third with 145 points. Emery sent just two athletes to the meet, with freshman Chase Christiansen and McKay Meccariello both participating in the 3200 and 1600 meters. They both tallied points in the 3200 as Christiansen took second and Meccariello finished seventh for 10 total team points.

Mikelle Monson, tied for second in high jump. Cache Barrett, fifth in javelin. Blanc, fifth in javelin.
The Dinos will next compete in the Uintah Invitational on Saturday in Vernal.
