The Carbon Dinos were nipped by the 4A Payson Lions on Friday night, 23-14, nearly completing a second half comeback.
The Dinos outscored the Lions 14-13 in the second half.
After starting quarterback Noah Jones was injured and taken to the hospital in an ambulance in the third quarter, sophomore quarterback Jarrett Atwood found Ashton Larsen twice from 15 yards out for touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. The Dino defense was stout all game long.
Carbon (0-2, 0-0 3A North) will travel to Duchesne (2-0, 0-0 1A North)) on Friday. The last time the two played Carbon took the 20-8 victory on Sept. 4, 2014. Friday’s game will be streamed live on www.etv10news.com/livesports.
