Dinos, Spartans Swim at Cedar Invitational

It was another weekend full of stiff competition as Carbon and Emery headed south to compete at the Cedar Invitational. The teams were joined with 10 others ready to show off their talent.

The Lady Dinos’ 200 free relay team came in first with Emery in third. Later on, the Lady Spartans took fourth in the 400 free relay. Then, in the boys’ 200 free relay, Carbon took third. Carbon also finished in second in the boys’ 400 free relay with Emery in sixth.

Aubrey Guymon (EHS) turned heads with her first-place finish in the 100 fly. She later took second in the 200 back. Melody Lake (EHS) also came in first in the 500 free while Ellie Hanson (CHS) took eighth. Lake was back out in front in the 100 breast for her second win of the day, while teammate Carley Young came in fifth.

Alyssa Chamberlain (CHS) missed first place by 0.48 of a second in the 50 free and ended in fourth. Meanwhile, Mia Crompton (CHS) came in sixth and Sydney Carter (EHS) came in eighth.

Chamberlain would later take fifth in the 100 free with Crompton in seventh. Finally, Jennacie Jeffery (CHS) shaved off three seconds in the 200 IM to take seventh.

Copper Hills took first with 358 points followed by Cedar City in second with 287 points. Carbon came next with 219 points in third while Emery finished fourth with 209 points.

In the boys’ events, Gabe Ibanez (CHS) took third in the 200 free and fourth in the 100 fly. Parker Jensen (EHS) took fourth in the 100 breast and Kade Larsen (EHS) finished in eighth.

In the 500 free, Nathan Engar (CHS) came in fifth with Alex Frederick (EHS) in seventh and Cameron Jones (CHS) in eighth. Meanwhile, Tyler Frandsen (CHS) came in sixth in the 100 back and Mason Engar came in eighth in the 100 free.

Cedar City won the meet with 404 points followed by Canyon View (304) in second, Uintah (285) in third, Carbon (161.5) in fourth and Emery (146) in eighth.

Carbon and Emery have only one meet left until Regionals, the Last Chance Invitational at the Emery Aquatic Center on Saturday.
