Dino golfers rounded out the Region 15 competition with a lead of 62 strokes to take the title on Wednesday in Richfield.
Ryker Smith led the team with 78 with Joey Penovich just behind at 81. Kayden Alderson finished the day with 82 and Ryan Gagon rounded out the scoring with 83.
“That day we did not play very good,” head coach Tom King explained. “We took second behind Richfield but we still took first in region.”
King credits the play to pressure for the region title as well as individual scores. The off play continued into the next day as the team took last in the Eastern Utah Cup.
“They are just struggling right now,” King said.
The team shot 324 at the tournament for a third place finish. Smith once again had the low round of the day with a 76. Alderson came in next for the Dinos with a 79 followed by Wyatt Henrie with 85. Penovich finished with 86.
The team will now prepare for the state competition slated for Oct. 7-8. Six Dinos will travel to compete for the title.
