Dinos Unable to Keep Pace

After a month of football, Carbon was finally able to host its first home game of the season on Friday night.

The visiting Union Cougars came to play and quickly scored on a long pass to start the game. The Dinos answered back with a solid touchdown drive of their own to tie the game at six.

Neither defense had an answer in the first half as the teams traded multiple touchdowns. The Dinos took a one-point lead with just over two minutes left in the half but could not hold on to it as Union drove down and scored to end the half with a 26-19 advantage.

Carbon’s defense was able to come through to begin the second half with a forced fumble. The Dinos then went down and scored to tie the game at 26. Union again had an answer and scored to regain the lead.

On the Dinos’ ensuing drive, Wright made one of his few mistakes of the game. He got rid of a pass as a defender was closing in, but the ball fell in the Cougar’s hands. Union went down and took a two-score lead after that point. The Cougars went on to win 45-26, but the game was much closer than the score indicated.

The Dinos (1-3) will be back at home for homecoming night on Sept. 20. They will open up region play against the Wildcats of Richfield (2-3). The game will be broadcast on ETV Channel 10 and etvnews.com/livesports.
