The last two weekends of the Dixie-6 found several of both Carbon and Emery’s rodeo teams finishing in the top ten and earning more points.

The final four rodeos, Nov. 18 and 19 as well as Nov. 25 and 26, found five of Carbon’s team scoring big. Sierra Edwards had a third, eighth and ninth in the poles and a seventh and tenth in the barrels. Morgan Jensen scored a third and fifth in poles, two ninths and sixth in the barrel competition. Brothers Kolton and Kagen Rhodes claimed honors in both rifle and trap shoot. Kagen had a fourth, fifth and two sixths in rifle shooting, and a first, second and tenth in trap shoot. Kolton scored a first, second, third and fourth in rifle. Sadie Waller placed ninth in the reining cow horse.

Emery team members scoring in the top ten were: Hayden Cloward with two firsts in team roping and a second and ninth in tie down roping; Korby Christiansen and partner Sammy Taylor with sixth in team roping;  Drake Weber in tenth in reining cow horse; Will and Wyatt Magnuson also placed tenth in team roping; Riata Christiansen was first attendant to the queen.

Rodeo teams now take a break during the winter months. They will travel the state starting again in March, working hard toward state competition in the first week in June. Placing in the top ten qualifies contestants for the state finals. Some areas of competition will qualify more than ten if there are a large number of contestants in that area.
