Dixie Six Rodeo Series Underway

The Dixie Six Rodeo Series began over the weekend at the Washington County Complex in Hurricane, Utah. The Emery and Carbon high rodeo teams had members compete in several events.

The shooting sports for the junior high division were held in conjunction with the high school. In junior high shooting, Ryter Ekker walked away with a first place finish on both days. Kashley Rhodes took fourth at Dixie #1 and eighth Dixie #2. Shalako Gunter finished sixth and fifth, respectively. In the high school competition, Kagen Rhodes was second in trap shooting at both rodeos. Rugger Paynes placed third in #1 and seventh at #2. In the light rifle shooting, Kagen Rhodes was fourth at #1 and second at #2.

In the rodeo arena, Kayson Jensen tied for first in the first go round and was first in Dixie #2 in the bareback riding. In breakaway roping on Friday, Baylee Jacobsen roped in 4.05 for ninth place and on Saturday, Abbie McElprang roped in 3.4 for second. Kinlie Jensen captured 10th in goat tying on Friday and Cole Magnuson was third in bull riding on Saturday.

The next two weekends will find many of these same contestants headed south again to compete in the next four days of the Dixie Six.
