Price City Police Department News Release
Since Nov. 11, Price City Officers have responded to a southwest Price residence three times for domestic related issues, two involving keep the peace details, and the last incident on Nov. 16, an actual domestic violence incident. Excessive alcohol intake by the involved male subject is allegedly a major factor.
During the Nov. 16 investigation, officer Jared Hansen became aware that the male subject allegedly personally possessed a handgun as well as several other weapons in his home. Hansen became aware that the male subject had threatened a family member and officers with harm via the gun. Officer Hansen also became aware of a previously unreported domestic violence situation occurring earlier in the month.
On Nov. 16, officer Hansen secured the safety of other family members. The male subject refused to be contacted, remaining in his locked home. A report has been filed with the Carbon County Attorney’s Office for this incident. Formal charges could arise from their review.
Upon further investigation, officer Hansen determined the male subject, based on his previous criminal history, including a felony burglary conviction, was prohibited from possessing firearms.
On Nov. 21, officer Hansen prepared an Affidavit For Search Warrant and applied to the 7th District Court for approval. The court granted the search warrant. Late on the afternoon of Nov. 21 (the day before Thanksgiving), Officer Hansen safely served the search warrant on the southwest Price residence with the assistance of Sgt. Brandon Sicilia, Sgt. Stephen Regruto and their crews.
Six long guns, three handguns, ammunition and three knives were seized as a result of the search warrant. The male subject, Joe A. Albert, DOB 7-8-84 of Price, was located at a nearby business and arrested. He was booked into the Carbon County Jail for Possession of a Firearm by a Restricted Person and Tampering With A Witness, both third degree felonies. The Carbon County Attorney will review the report to determine the appropriate formal charges.
According to court records, Albert has eight prior arrests for drug offenses, burglary, aggravated assault, assault, hit and run, possession of alcohol by an interdicted person, intoxication and disorderly conduct. Bail has been set at $10,000 and Albert currently remains incarcerated as of Nov. 26 at 2 p.m.
