Dream Big at the 2017 Emery County Fair

Emery County Fair Press Release

The 2017 Emery County Fair will feature several big name entertainers, along with local fan favorites! The fair kicks off July 28 & 29 with the Cowboy’s Memorial Rodeo, sanctioned by the Rocky Mountain Pro Rodeo Association, and begins nightly at 7:30 p.m. They have been hard at work to make sure the event is entertaining for everyone, so grab your family and friends and head down to the Castle Dale Rodeo Grounds the last weekend of July!

Competitive exhibits are at the heart of the Emery County Fair providing the opportunity for community members to showcase their own talents and gifts! Start preparing your projects now! All youth should check out your local libraries for info on the “It only takes a little to BE BIG” contest they can participate in to win cash! On Tuesday, August 1st, those who would like to participate in the exhibits (including animal) may turn in your projects at the fairgrounds between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. You can pre-register, and find more details, at www.emerycountyfair.com.

The stage under the pavilion will have non-stop entertainment beginning on August 3 at 12 p.m. and will include several different mini contests (with $100 cash prizes for each), singing and dance competitions, and:

  • Local Entertainment
  • Mad Science
  • Mentalism (by the talented Ethan Williams)
  • Comedy (featuring Dory Peacock)

On Saturday, the entertainment will move to the Aquatic Center where Ryan Shupe will kick off the Heroes Never Forgotten Tribute Concert and Collin Raye will headline! Check the website for other available venues to pre-purchase your tickets.

What is a county fair without contests to test your abilities and give you chances to win BIG? The on-stage mini contests will take place between the entertainment acts on the stage under the pavilion and include butter sculpting, watermelon seed eating/spitting (both sponsored by Jason Chaffetz), the Food Ranch donut eating contest, the Fatty’s hot dog eating contest, and many more fun activities all with $100 cash prizes for the winners!

The dance competition may very well be one of this year’s largest events featuring celebrity dancer Chelsie Hightower! It will begin on Saturday, August 5 with a one-hour dance camp that will take place at the Spartan Center at 3:30 p.m. The dancing fun will then move to the fairgrounds where the dance competition will begin at 5 p.m. and Chelsie will be judging! All details can be found at the website under the Register for Events tab, where you will want to pre-register and save your spot! The dance camp is $25 and includes a custom T-shirt, and the dance competition is $40 with prizes valued at over $1,000!

Another big competition is The Voice of Emery singing competition and will be judged by Greg Hansen, an award-winning professional composer, record producer/arranger, and new age recording artist! There will be two categories, which are ages 17 and under and 18 and over. Duets are allowed! The grand prize for each category is a recording session with Greg Hansen in his own private studio to record a song of your choice! This is such a rare and grand opportunity for all of the singers in our area! There are still a couple spots open in each category, but are filling up quickly so don’t wait! Register at www.emerycountyfair.com under the Register for Events tab.
