Payce Herrera of Price is a fifteen-year-old driver in the Hobby Stock division, driving the number 711 car. He plans on competing in the SportMod division soon. He started racing when he was four years old and has been racing at the amateur level for three years. Herrera’s dad was his reason for getting into racing.

When asked what his best memory driving throughout the years was, he said it was when he won at the Stuart Speedway in Start, Iowa. His favorite tracks to race are Marshall town in Iowa and Sweetwater in Rock Springs, Wyoming. His toughest track he has raced on is Boone Speedway, also in Iowa. Herrera then said “the family you meet” is something he loves about the sport and his greatest achievement thus far has been when he took home the $1,000 prize money.

As a marketing tactic, he made coloring books that he has sold to families at the events, as well as to people in his community. The idea came when he was in school after he finished his school work and was bored. He has made three different books so far and is still selling them.

“I want to thank Shane Weybright and Ryan Dimick at Desert Thunder Foundation, these guys have helped me a ton. Also, Amanda Dimick, Erin Weybright and my dad. It’s truly a blessing, what we’ve done as a team. Also, Lamb’s distributing, Wehrs Machinery, Fast Shafts, Arrow Race Wheels, Superior Steering Wheels.” He finished up by answering what his message to younger drivers would be and he responded, “Believe in yourself.”
