Routine Traffic Stop Results in Arrest of Two, Seizure of Five Ounces of Marijuana in Wellington

On Sunday at approximately 1:50 a.m., Wellington City Officer Anderson initiated a traffic stop for a traffic violation. The driver was Joseph Martinez and one female passenger, Anngelica Jones. Both subjects live in the SLC area. During the course of the traffic stop Officer Anderson, could smell the odor of marijuana. The subjects admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and gave consent to search the vehicle. Located in the vehicle was approximately 5 ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Officer Anderson placed both subject under arrest and booked them into the Carbon County jail for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of paraphernalia, no insurance, expired registration and expired driver’s license.

Carbon County Deputies Addley and Henrie assisted with this incident.
