The Division of Wildlife Resources in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, Carbon County Recreation, KUSA radio and the Kiwanis Club will sponsor a Kids’ Fishing Day at the Gigliotti Pond in Helper on Saturday, June 11.

The event will run from 9 a.m. until noon. Rods, reels and bait will be provided for persons who don’t have their own. Kids, 12 years of age and under, can put their names in a fish bowl and receive a prize at noon or thereabouts. There will be free hot dogs and drinks.

Children under 12 don’t need a license to fish. A license for 12 and 13 year-olds costs $5 and is good for an entire year. Youth, age 14 and over, need a $26 license if they wish to fish the entire year. One-day and seven-day licenses are also available at a reduced rate.

The limit is two fish at the Gigliotti Pond. Prior to the event, the pond will be freshly stocked with trout to ensure good fishing.

The Gigliotti Pond is located at the end of Martin Street in Helper. The pond is handicap-accessible with concrete sidewalks, covered pavilions, and modern restrooms. The pond and its accoutrements were funded by the Division of Wildlife Resources with sportsmen dollars.
