A select group of individuals will get up close and personal with as many as five species of bats at a special Meet the Bats Night in southeastern Utah.

The Division of Wildlife Resources is hosting the free event on July 18. DWR Regional Conservation Outreach Manager Brent Stettler said biologists will catch bats in a fine mesh net. After catching a bat, they’ll remove it from the net and collect biological data.

The event was limited to 25 people and preregistration was required. According to Stettler, all slots for the event have been filled. Stettler expressed that in order to keep the event a high-quality experience, no other people will be able to register for this year’s event. However, he did encourage interested parties to register early next summer for a chance to attend the event.

For more information or to express interest in next year’s event, please contact Stettler at (435) 613-3707.
