East Carbon City Council members met to address city business on Tuesday at the East Carbon City Hall. Among the items discussed was the critical state of the city’s roads.

Cracks and potholes need to be filled, and the work must to be done soon. “We can’t go another winter with our roads in the condition they are in,” Mayor Orlando LaFontaine said.

The Council passed a resolution that would provide more than $63,000 to address the road issues, including those in the City’s parking lots.

After addressing the basic need for safety, the council spoke about the importance of city beautification. Council members donated $140 to place flowers around City Hall and other areas, and voted to match the donation with city funds.

The council also discussed the benefits of advertising to bring more people into the city for their upcoming “Community Daze” celebration. This year’s event will take place on July 8 and 9.
