Edward Chavez Jr. sworn in as Helper City Mayor

Edward Chavez Jr. was sworn in as the new Helper City mayor this morning at 11 a.m. in Helper City Hall.

Chavez took over from Helper City Councilman Kirk Mascaro, who was acting mayor pro tem. Chavez will serve out the rest of former mayor Dean Armstrong’s mayoral term which concludes January 2014. Armstrong resigned February 23 following a DUI arrest.

Chavez previously served 15 years on the Wellington City Council and was born in Helper.
