Emery Advances in State Tournament with Wins Over Judge Memorial and Union *Photo Gallery*

The Lady Spartans sailed through the opening rounds of the 3A State Volleyball tournament on Wednesday, taking wins against Judge Memorial and Union.

The girls played against the Judge Memorial Bulldogs in the first round. The first set was given to the Bulldogs with 25-13. The Lady Spartans then pulled ahead and stayed in the lead for the rest of the game. The second set ended with a score of 25-22, the third set was 25-14, and the fourth set ended at 25-21. The Lady Spartans won 3-1. This win gave the girls a chance to play in the quarterfinals later that night.

Emery played the Union Cougars for the quarterfinals. The Lady Spartans kept the lead throughout the entire match. The Cougars were close behind in the first set with 25-22. They fell behind the Spartans for the second set, 25-18, and the third, 25-16. Emery won 3-0.

The Lady Spartans win for the quarterfinals will put them into the semifinals. They will play the San Juan Broncos at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Utah Valley University. If the girls win this match, they will then play in the finals.
