Emery and Carbon Split by Pool

High school runners gathered by the Emery County Aquatic Center in Castle Dale on Wednesday.

Emery’s Jess Christiansen and Bryar Meccariello continued their dominance by finishing first and second, respectively. Rounding off the Spartans top five were Merritt Meccariello (8th), Camdon Larsen (14th) and Mason Stewart (19th).

Kobe Cruz led Carbon in fifth place with Easton Humes right behind in sixth. Braxton Ware ended in 12th with Nathan Engar in 13th and Pierce Bryner in 17th.

Emery (44) edged out Carbon (53) for first place with Richfield (54), San Juan (125), Grand (181) and South Sevier (184) following behind.

Adaley Lester (EHS) took third in the girls’ race with teammate Kallee Cook in seventh. The Lady Dinos finished in a pack with Ambree Jones in fourth, Erin Stromness in fifth, Sophia Taylor in sixth, Gracie Tatton in 10th and Ellie Hanson in 11th. Daciee Ungerman and Bethany Justice took 17th and 18th for the Spartans with Fortune Ward ending in 33rd.

The Lady Dinos took first with 38 team points followed by Richfield (53), Emery (78) and San Juan (89).
