Emery Battled Payson in Home Meet *Photo Gallery*

The Emery Aquatic Center was humming on Thursday afternoon as Emery and Payson squared off in the pool. The Spartan relay teams started the meet off right, winning the boys and girls 200 medley. Another Lady Spartans’ relay would later win the 200 free.

Emery dominated the 50 free, locking in the top five spots with Haley Guymon, Abby Johansen, Aubrey Guymon, Cambrie Jensen and Katie McCandless respectively. Haley also took first in the 100 fly. Another Guymon, Aubrey, won the 100 back with Britannia Waite in second and Sydney Stilson in third.

Later on in the 500 free, the nearly seven minute race was decided within one second as Johansen edged out Jensen for first. Elli Whitesel finished in third in the event. Stilson ended in second in the 200 IM with Kaejha Johnson in third. Johnson also took third in the 100 breast. McCandless and Waite took third in the 100 and 200 free respectively. The Lady Spartans topped Payson 356-282.

In the boys’ 100 back, Dax Minchey took first for the Spartans with Alex Frederick in third. Jacob Fauver and Elias Morris finished second and third respectively in the 200 free. In the 100 fly, Kyler Minchey took second with Morris once more in third. Dax took third in the 50 free while Bryant Durrant followed suit in the 500 free. In the 100 breast, Kegley Terry ended in second with Kyler Minchey in third. Emery fell 397-323 in the boys’ division to Payson.

The Spartans have completed their 2020 schedule and will next compete at Cedar on January 8.
