At Wednesday’s Emery County Business Chamber Lunch and Learn, local business owners and employees enjoyed a lunch sponsored by Magnuson Lumber and the Emery County Progress. The event was catered by KFJ C-Store, a recently opened business in Huntington.

While eating, speaker Alan Christensen presented a short preview of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People as applied to managers in business. An employee at Snow Business College, Christensen teaches a two-day course to owners and managers of small businesses (businesses that employ less than 300 people) for a discounted price.

He shared the seven habits from Stephen R. Covey’s book. The habits are as follows: be proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win-win, first seek to understand, then seek to be understood, synergize and sharpen the saw. Christensen shared how these seven habits can be applied to effective management and teamwork within small businesses.

Christensen will be presenting the full workshop on October 16-17. Small business managers can sign up for the greatly reduced price of $198 (usually $1,695) by calling (435) 613-5440 by Oct. 1.
