Thelma Jensen was born June 27, 1933 in Cleveland, Utah. If you ask her, she came laughing and giggling her way into this world and plans to leave it the same way. Thelma has always had a positive outlook on life and been able to smile and make the best of any situation. Thelma married Bertley Ray Jensen on June 30, 1951 and together they made their home in Emery County, first in Castle Dale and then later in Ferron. They became proud parents of three children, Sid Jensen, Sheree Pollitz and Adele Justice and were foster parents to numerous other children. Thelma chose not to work outside of her home but provided day care for over a hundred children throughout her married life and all of them loved her mac & cheese and jam sandwiches. It has been a highlight of her life as some of these relationships have continued throughout the years. Thelma’s pride and joy include visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren and visits from her friends. She taught her children to love unconditionally and to enjoy relationships created with others. She also taught them to use their imaginations, to play and create the own fun catching butterflies, having tea parties and adventures that never required leaving her living room.

Thelma loved to work in the garden alongside her husband and would help dig fence posts, break horses and haul wood.

Thelma and her husband served three missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many church callings18 throughout her life and especially enjoyed serving as a Home/Visiting teacher to residents at the Emery County Care Center. She also loved serving in the Branch Relief Society Presidency there and always greeted everyone with a hug and kiss. She has always help a deep love in her heart for the residents and felt it a pleasure to serve them.

Thelma has always been proud of her children and considered her family to be her greatest blessing in life. Her life has been a legacy of love and laughter that has blessed her posterity as they have followed in her footsteps.
