One of the first items discussed at the Emery County Commission meeting on Wednesday was the approval to advertise the scrap metal pile at the landfill for bid. Scrap metal is allegedly at the lowest it’s ever been, and looks to rebound sometime in the next year.

The mini grant application through KUED for Orangeville Library to hold a super reader party was approved. The library has held the party before and is asking for a $400 donation to put on the party through the month of November. If kids read 50 pages, they get a chance to win a Kindle Fire tablet.

Commissioners will have their meeting in December on the 15 at 5 p.m., with the public hearing commencing at 6.

Robert Blackburn will be retiring after working for 27 years at the sheriff’s office. Everyone is invited to celebrate his retirement from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 27 in the metal building at the sheriff’s office. Come by and thank Blackburn for his years of service.

The county auction is Saturday. You can look on the county website for more information and see what’s being auctioned off.

Finally, the sidewalk at the senior citizen center in Castle Dale is underway.
