Carbon and Emery County Fire Warden Justin Needles presented information regarding a proposed countywide burn ordinance to Emery County Commissioners Tuesday morning.

Needles said the ordinance would create an open burn window from approximately Nov. 1 to May 1. The ordinance would also allow Emery County Sheriffs to more easily keep track of intentional burns.

Out of season burns would still be permitted with Needles approval.

Carbon County has already accepted the same burn proposal.

Emery County city and town fire chiefs would need to present the plan to their respective mayors and councils before the plan could be approved, so a final decision was tabled for a future meeting.
