Emery County Commissioners Jeff Horrocks, James R. Nelson, and Laurie Pitchforth discussed emergency service billing and flooding concerns at Tuesday’s meeting.
Horrocks and Pitchforth visited Green River on Monday, and they expressed great concern about potential flooding. Much of the golf course is already under water, and flooding is predicted to continue for at least another week.
Green River residents have been working hard to fill sandbags and attempt to divert floodwaters.
Emery County is considering attempting to lower emergency service costs by posting signs informing the public of local risks and requiring anyone requiring the service to cover at least a portion of the costs. The new action would mainly pertain to search and rescue situations.
The Commission is considering modeling any changes after Wayne County’s current program.
