On Tuesday, MarchВ  22, the Emery County CommissionВ  granted the Emery County Healthy Families Coalition a $250 donation to help with their work providing education to local families.

The Commission heard a presentation for Delena Fish of the Coalition. Fish informed the commissioners of what the program does for families and what they hope to do in the future, including having educational workshops and other activities to support healthy families. The commissioners also agreed to continue supporting the organization with their printing needs.

В

Five students from Emery High also attended the meeting. The five are members of the Emery High School Rodeo Club, and were asking for a donation to help fund their yearly rodeo.В  They related that the rodeo will bring in 300 families and 600 high school contestants from all over the state for two days.

The commissioners voiced their support of the club and commented on how strong the competition is each year. Commissioner Laurie Pitchforth moved to grant the club $250. The motion was seconded by Commissioner James Nelson.

Commissioner Jeff HorrocksВ  encouraged his fellow commissioners to support the designation of April as national Parkinson’s Awareness Month. The motion passed unanimously.
