On Tuesday, Emery County Commissioners approved a resolution authorizing the Castle Valley Special Service District no more than $2,055,000 in two series of general obligation bonds to construct improvements on sewer and culinary water lines as well as a new water treatment facility in Ferron.
Chris Wood of the Division of Wildlife Resources presented the commissioners with a PILT (Payments in Lieu of Taxes) payment for land owned and managed by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
PILT payments help local governments carry out such vital services as firefighting and police protection, construction of public schools and roads, and search and rescue operations. PILT payments are one of the ways the federal government can fulfill its role of being a good neighbor to local communities.
Commissioners listened as Green River Mayor Pat Brady and other concerned citizens discussed their desire and options to reopen the DMV office in Green River.
