The 2019 Emery County Fair animal exhibit will feature longhorns and Watusi cattle, miniature cattle, and beef cattle. There will also be a poultry show Saturday, Aug. 3 at 12 p.m. People can also bring their goats, pigs and sheep. Animals can be dropped off Friday, Aug. 2 between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., and must be picked up no later than 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. Exhibitors are responsible for the care of the animals at all times. There will be pony and unicorn rides Friday and Saturday. For more information, please call Kory McArthur at (435) 820-1828.

SPIKEBALL

You’ve seen that little black and yellow trampoline game all over but still have no clue why groups of people are spiking a ball down into it. Finally, you’ll get some answers.

Spikeball is a sport that’s sweeping the nation (it’s even been broadcast on ESPN). It’s commonly referred to as the love child between volleyball and four-square. It is played 2 vs 2, with a taut hula hoop sized spikeball net placed between the teams. A player starts a point by serving the ball down on the net so it ricochets up at his opponents. They have up to three hits between them (just like volleyball) to control the ball and bounce it back off the net. When they miss, you score. Did we mention that there are no boundaries? Once a point starts, players can move or hit the ball anywhere!

The Emery County Fair spikeball tournament will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2 at 4 p.m. by the sand volleyball pit and will consist of pool play, followed by a single elimination tournament. Spikeball sets will go to the winners! For more information, please call Kirk Robinson at (435) 381-2438.

CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT

The Emery County Fair cornhole tournament will take place on Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Emery County Recreation Center (75 South 400 East in Castle Dale). Sign up will be at 1:30 pm. with the tournament getting underway at 2 p.m.

The entry cost is $20 per team. There will be cash prizes for the top three teams while the winning team will receive two sets of cornhole boards.
