Nearly 100 people, all toting lawn chairs, arrived at the Castle Valley Ranch for an evening of music and cowboy poetry on Thursday.

The Country Roads band played for guests under the setting sun. President LoriAnn Larsen welcomed many senior citizens and introduced the program. Three local artists, Russell Swasey, Lee Jeffs and Darcy Guymon, shared poetry and as well as an invited poet from Wyoming, Mike Sewell. The emcee for the evening was Kent Peterson.

Janet Peterson was given the “Survival Award” for her many years of activity and help keeping the Emery County Historical Society alive and well.

Also at the event, a quilt and afghan raffle was announced. The proceeds will help the Emery County Archives with their project of digitizing the Emery County Progress for the last 40 years.
